We're big tea nerds, and we're passionate about sharing the world of tea. It's the second-most consumed beverage in the world, but especially in the West, hardly any of us have experienced true tea.
So we're here to welcome you into the world of tea - from learning about whole, loose leaf tea, to experiencing the mindful benefits of slowing down with traditional brewing methods. Tea has been around for thousands of years, and unique tea traditions have evolved all over the world. We learn and source our tea from tea makers and tea masters across the globe, and our aim is to share their wisdom, experience and connection to this ancient heritage with you.
We're based in beautiful Bath, UK and we host tea experiences across South West England. Take a look at our offerings and join us in exploring the world of tea - we look forward to welcoming you to one of our events!
Leaf & Buds grew out of a friendship between two buds with a shared love of the camellia sinensis leaf. Maren and Kartini launched Leaf & Buds together with the aim of sharing tea as a means of connection with people and cultures across the world. Nowadays, while Kartini pursues new adventures, Maren continues our mission hosting events and tasting experiences in Bath and surrounding areas.
Maren brings a wealth of first-hand experience working with tea across its full lifecycle, from farming and processing, to retail and tastings. She’s worked in an international teahouse in the US and spent three months as a tea farmer in Wazuka, Kyoto, Japan, hosting tea tours and making tea. Currently completing a tea instructor certification with Being Tea, and with a varied background across design, linguistics, and education, Maren’s approach to sharing tea centres sensory experience, deep appreciation for tea traditions and cultures, and the unique perspective each of us brings to a shared cup of tea.
